Of the 29 people that have won the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America’s lifetime achievement award, only 4 of them are women. However, 3 of those women have won the award in the past decade. This has pretty much made a trend for sci-fi movies to stop being a boy only club. Movies like the Hunger Games have shown the potential comercial and critical success of making a science fiction movie with a lead female protagonist, that can be enjoyed by both male and females alike. Even old sci-fi films like Alien have shown this potential, as well as movies from the early 2000s like Tomb Raider. Do you think this is just a temporary trend, or will this continue?
