Movie Club Out - Film Club In: An interview with Lukus Brody

Today I interviewed my school's Movie Club administrator, Mr. Brody. He has been a mc faculty member for over 2 years, and had some really interesting stuff to say.

What do you think of Movie Club  this year?
Really excited, this year we’re going to make an effort to make MC more legitimate. Make more awareness for movie, make it bigger and better.

Are you going to be the only teacher in charge of Movie Club?
Yes

How many people are going to be on MC this year?
Between 6 and 15. We have 6 regulars, but hopefully we'll get more this year.

What movie do you want to start the year with?
Since last we were going to show Moonrise Kingdom … but we couldn’t… we’ll show it.

What was your favorite from last year?
Donny Darko. We had the best discussions with that, and it’s a high school kind of audience.

Will your taste be different from Mr. Madjik’s (last year MC administrator) ?
Mr. Madjik’s and my taste differ, but everything he brought I liked. I’ll show different movies, but I’ll still keep in touch with [him], and get his recommendations for mc.

So you won’t show as many foreign movies?
We’ll watch foreign movies, but not like Mr. Madjik’s.

What are you‘ll plans to make MC more noticeable?
Make a mission statement, we’ll writet it together, and it will promote movies as an art… Also, we’ll change the name from Movie Club to Film Club because movie and film are the same, but film is a more academic term.

Are you still going to make the podcasts?
It depends on the students, but I’d really like to do it. I also want to give more responsabilites, because last year, we [Mr. Madjik and I] had to do the posters, and slide shows. We want the studrents to do that now.  We’ll give one job to a kid per week.

What would you have changed from last year’s MC?
I’ve always wanted to do production, and we did that 2 years ago with the Jag Awards, but it’s too much work even to make a trailer. We need members who are dedicated. It’s the students’ club; I’ll take your suggestions.

When is MC starting?
We begin Sept. 3rd, but it will just be a brief meeting, and talk about our ideas, and mission statements.

So that was Mr. Brody folks. What did you think of the blogs first interview? Any recommendations for things we should watch this year? Leave your comments below!!!
